Hello fans of the Left 4 Dead 2 Beta!

Firstly, welcome! For the Left 4 Dead community, I am here to introduce the Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Pack! The purpose of this project is to restore Left 4 Dead 2's E3 Demo build.

What is the Left 4 Dead 2 Beta?

The Left 4 Dead 2 Beta is an early demo that was used on the 2009 E3 show floor for players to see Left 4 Dead 2 for the first time ever. This demo, however, is looked back as a unique build for the Left 4 Dead franchise. In short, this build used a combination of assets between the first and second games. However, you can essentially treat it as a reskinned Left 4 Dead 1.

How will this mod function?

Whether it's weapon animations, survivor reskins, infected remodels, or even weapon scripts this mod pack's sole purpose is so all E3/Beta content is consolidated into a single product, thereby making the Left 4 Dead 2 Beta mods easily accessible. For content that may be developed in the future, I intend to include those items into this project, of course, giving credit to the original developers.

Starting at Version 0.7

I decided to start this project at Version 0.7 due to its current amount of E3-inspired content. Every time an asset was added, a new internal version was essentially developed. See the first ever patch notes listed below:

Patch Notes

  • Beta style Rochelle reskin

  • Beta style Coach reskin

  • Beta style Ellis reskin

  • L4D1 Hunter

  • L4D1 Tank

  • L4D1 Smoker

  • L4D1 weapon animations

  • L4D1 Saferoom door textures

  • White pistol texture (red dot sight included) - E3 Inspired

I hope the mod pack makes huge success in the future. In the meantime, have fun!
