Version 2.2 Patch Notes

Updated: Jan 23

Introduction

The Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Pack yet pushes forward another update. However, this update features many different changes, which mainly focus on accuracy and improvement overall. Our last patch mainly focused on script improvements and relationships with the community and media. Patch 2.2 on the other hand takes it up about 5000 notches, so its fairly important! Continue reading to see the major transition this project has undergone.

The New Beta Pack Team

For the longest time, Gigan, our team manager, has directed the project, media, file work, and community essentially on his own, while other content creators have came and gone throughout the years. This project has began back in 2011, and things have certainly changed over the years. With new content creators releasing new Beta assets on the workshop, better-relationships were formed with many different people, and now an official team has formed with taskings now being delegated. The Beta Pack will now be a far-more structured organization. Please meet the newly established crew:

  • Gigan: Project Manager

  • AZ1N: Assistant Manager, Media Director

  • Svenyums: Credits, News, and Art director

  • Crystal Gem: Modder, Gameplay Tester

  • Stonebank: Gameplay Tester

  • Euphoria: Gameplay Tester

Brand Name - Version Transition

With patch 2.1, the project undergone a major change for splitting the mod into two different versions. With that being said, the base mod, previously known as "The Local Edition", will now assume the base-name Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Pack. While that temporary name change fully pertained to the local play-only concept, the team doesn't agree for that being the forefront title of our project. The Online Edition counterpart, however, will remain the same.

Enhanced Folder

Developer AZ1N has just recently posted his E3 inspired level transition, but also has released a tip graphic unlocker to match it. These tips went unused and can be accessed by utilizing a newly included folder in the beta pack vpk.

"Inside the VPK file for this mod, a folder entitled "enhanced" can be found. This will allow you to unlock the unused tips which were used in the beta (the ones that show Ellis and Rochelle). I have changed these to look like the E3 versions of their models. If you are interested, follow the readme inside the VPK (requires GCFScape)."
